For a Social Studies integration, there are so many ways I know I could go about teaching the moon. For this purpose, I have focused in on two different ways and provided a link for further information.
1. The African God of Mawu. Mawu is the moon and is viewed as a supreme being.
2. The Japanese God of Tsuki-Yomi. Tsuki-Yomi is the moon in Japanese mythology. The Japanese believe that the moon lived with the sun in heaven before it came to be reality.
